Monte Carlo Hotel in Las Vegas burns
By Ken Carr @ 1:02 PM :: 139 Views :: 0 Comments

I would imagine many of you have been to Las Vegas.  I have been about a half dozen times and have visited many of the hotels and casinos.

The top floors of the Monte Carlo Hotel/Resort/Casino in Las Vegas are currently burning.  The fire started at 11am Pacific (Noon AZ time) and fortunately nobody has been injured or killed.  Firefighters are still working on putting the fire out.

The video pictures they are showing on CNN are pretty spectacular.

Don't high rollers stay on the top floors?  Maybe all that money that was burning a hole in their pockets got too hot!

Wow.

3 p.m. update:  The fire is out.  The portion of the Monte Carlo that burned was primarily the facade that sticks up above the top of the hotel and the outside.  No real damage has been reported to the rooms at this time.  There were welders working on the roof at the time the fire started and there is speculation that may have been somehow related to the cause of this fire.  Again, there were no injuries or deaths and the hotel has been evacuated until it is determined it is safe for all guests and employees.
